Christmas and New Year holiday period - class alterations. There will be no Llanishen class on 26 December and 2 January. The class will resume on 9 January. There will be no Whitchurch class on 30 December. The class will resume on 6 January.
Our next Lee Taiji Form Improvers' Workshop will be held on Sunday 27 November 2011. Further details can be found at Classes and workshops.
A new class for beginners is under way in Barry on Thursday evenings. Further details can be found at Classes and workshops.

Class News: Due to the trip to China, which includes all three of our instructors, there will be a two week break in classes during the inclusive dates of Monday 12 to Sunday 25 September 2011. All classes will run as normal up to and including Sunday 11 September. Classes will then resume as follows -

Llanishen Monday 26 September; Barry Tuesday 27 September; Sully Thursday 29 September; Whitchurch Friday 30 September; Cardiff International Pool Friday 30 September; Cardiff International Pool Sunday 2 October.

Thank you and well done to everyone who attended our Taiji Form Improvers' Workshop last Sunday. Given the excellent turnout, effort and enjoyment we will definitely be following this up with another hopefully this side of Christmas. Gentle reminder for everyone coming on the China trip in September - now is a good time to be applying for your Chinese visa and checking with your GP about vaccination requirements.

We are pleased to announce that Alan Jones and Sue Provis have successfully completed our Instructor Training Course and qualify as Instructors for beginner and junior students.

Now available "Lee Tai Chi Chuan Short Form: A Practical Guide". A practical instruction manual on the preparation for, learning of and moving on with the Short Form. Produced for beginners, early learners and anyone, anywhere, who may find it helpful. The manual contains 63 A4 pages, includes 134 stance and move photo illustrations and is spiral bound for easy opening. The cost per copy is £12 plus postage and packaging where relevant. Monday 20 December classes as normal at HMRC, Tyla Garw and Llanishen; Friday 24 December no classes; Sunday 26 December no classes; Monday 27 December no classes; Tuesday 28 December free session 9am Bute Park, Cardiff; Friday 31 December no classes; Sunday 2 January classes as normal at Cardiff Bay; Monday 3 January classes as normal at Tyla Garw and Llanishen but no class at HMRC; Friday 7 January classes as normal at Whitchurch and Cardiff Bay.

China Trip September 2011 - the trip is a two centre visit to Beijing and Lijiang (Yunnan Province) with an option to also visit Xian for the Terracotta Warriors. It is open to STQ class regulars and spouses/partners. There are a few places still available. If anyone is interested in joining us please let Nigel know and he will provide a detailed itinerary, travel and cost information.
There is now a two week break in classes because of Instructor holiday. Sunday classes will resume on 21 November 2010, Monday classes on 22 November 2010 and Friday classes on 26 November 2010.

The new Tyla Garw Monday (early evening) class is now well under way. There are currently a small number of places still available in the class.
The two Friday morning classes, at Whitchurch Community Centre, have now amalgamated into the 9.30 - 10.30am class as we now have permanent use of the larger room.

Tai Chi sessions at the Green Man Festival, Brecon Beacons will be held in the Yurt from 10.00 to 11.00am on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 August 2010. Come and give them a try if you are at the festival.
Tai Chi Class World Record Attempt - our 11am class next Sunday 25 July 2010, at Cardiff International Pool, will be dedicated to the attempt to break the world record for the largest number of people taking part in a Tai Chi class. This is in aid of Breakthrough Cancer Research. The current record is held by China and to beat this, the aim is to have 40,000 people taking part across the UK. Maybe you can come, join us and make a donation, even if you are not a class regular. The normal class admission and booking conditions will apply - see Classes and workshops for more class details.

Our next trip to China is now on offer and this is planned for September 2011. It is a two centre trip - Beijing and Lijiang - with the option of an extension to Xian for the Terracotta Army. The trip will include a sightseeing option and internal arts training/study option and is open to all STQ class regulars and spouses/partners. The Japanese Kodo Drummers are coming to South Wales. They have a show in the Wales Millennium Centre on Wednesday 20 October 2010.

A talk and demonstration for COG (Cardiff Outdoor Group) is planned for this evening at 7pm in Bute Park, Cardiff. COG members are asked to meet outside Mochyn Du, Pontcanna at 6.50pm please.

Thank you and well done to everyone who made the Taiji Form Improvers workshop so enjoyable and constructive - the time just flew by.  There will be a similar workshop later in the year.
Quite a few people have asked about the music currently being played in class.  The album is Tai Chi Chuan by Jerome Hameau and is proving very condusive and enjoyable during practice.  It can be found on Amazon where there is an MP3 downloadable option.
Due to the adverse weather conditions the start date for the new Friday daytime class, at Llanishen Methodist Church Hall from 2 to 3pm, is postponed to Friday 22 January 2010. Some spaces in the class are still available.

Cardiff University is showing a film called The Living Matrix on 24 September 2009. The film argues that energy fields drive human physiology and bio-chemistry and that "Western medicine has yet to move outside its comfort zone to embrace these revolutionary findings". Could be quite interesting and a link to what we aim for in our Taiji and Qigong work.
Two new workshops have been arranged for Sunday 27 September 2009 (Five Animals Qigong) and Sunday 15 November 2009 (Yi Jin Jing - Tendon and Muscle Changing Qigong). Please go to Classes and Workshops for more details.
