Our approach to learning and practice
Our classes and workshops have the aim of maintaining and improving health and wellbeing through the learning and practice of Tai Chi and Qigong as health arts.
Our classes run continuously throughout the year with the exception of some bank holidays and occasional instructor holidays.
Lee Family Tai Chi and Qigong are taught and practiced. Other Qigong styles may be taught and practiced from time to time.
Classes and workshops are for adults of all ages, shapes and sizes without distinction. Occasionally we may hold classes and workshops for teenagers too.
If the prospect of first coming to a class on one's own is a bit daunting ask a spouse, partner, relative or friend for company and support. They will be welcome too.
Returners to Taiji and Qigong classes are always welcome.
Where appropriate to do so, the advice of a qualified medical practitioner should be sought before taking part in any of our classes, workshops or any other events. Participation is, respectfully, at your own risk.
Classes and workshops contain continuous and structured learning in a safe environment and in an atmosphere of enjoyment, respect and harmony.
Different learning rates and abilities are respected and catered for - you do not have to be 'perfect' to start and practice our Tai Chi and Qigong.
Classes and workshops specifically contain a mix of forms, exercises and meditations plus gradual explanations of the history, principles and aims of Taiji and Qigong. From time to time we may offer, to class regulars, trips to China to broaden our knowledge and experience of the country and culture that gave us the gifts of Taiji and Qigong. Participation in such a trip is entirely optional.
When attending a class or workshop we recommend avoiding a heavy meal in the couple of hours beforehand and to wear loose, comfortable clothing plus thinly-soled footwear if possible.
If you are in an emergency contact situation you may leave your mobile switched on during a class or workshop.
We have no tests, gradings or competitions. The only challenge is to be present regularly in order to learn, practice and enjoy.
Regular and frequent practice is key to learning and benefiting from Taiji and Qigong. We recommend some personal practice inbetween classes and help is only a phonecall or email away if needed.
